Just one of those days.

You know those little periods in life where things just get a bit crazy for a bit. This is one of those times – so why not document it on the ole’ blog so I can forever re-live these moments. Yesterday was one of the weirdest days I’ve had in awhile. A mixture of ups and downs all thrown into a span of three hours.

After work yesterday, I got in my car all ready to go home and seize the afternoon. I start my car, put down the parking brake, and slide the car into reverse. I then try to back up… it doesn’t want to move more than a foot. So, I think to myself… dumbass, the parking brake. I look down, nope, it’s already down. Hmmm… I then think to myself that sometimes my car can drive without actually being turned all the way on, so let me pull out (since I’m already a foot out of my spot) and pull into another parking spot and figure out what the hell is wrong with my car. I get out of the car, look at the drivers side – nothing is wrong, I walk around to the passenger side and see this…

adjfkajdkfjadfhadf! And of course, Travis has my spare tire in HIS car, because I let him use it a few weeks ago when he drove upstate. I even asked him to put it in my car because I knew I was going to get a flat tire without it, and he told me that he drives around all day from client to client, so it’s best he has it, and if I ever get a flat tire, to just call him (truth – I couldn’t change a tire on my car if I even tried). So, I gave him a nice little ring at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon when he still had an hour of work left in his workday. Being the wonderful boyfriend that he can sometimes be (ha! love you babe) he came right over to my work and changed my tire. I thought things were a-okay then. Nope, turns out I need all new tires, asap. My tires have been dry rotted since I bought the thing off of Craigslist back in August. So, the tire cracked and slowly leaked. My front drivers side tires is about to do the same as well. I have a serious love-hate relationship with my car. Especially, when I’m pulling out of the driveway and Travis looks at my car funny, and then walks up to me and says “Check your oil when you get to work, or take your lunch break”. (My car tends to burn up oil like it’s going out of style).

So, once we finally get home Travis decides that this weekend is beer brewing weekend – which means it’s time to sanitize bottles and buckets. Just what I wanted to do on a gorgeous afternoon.

My kitchen is now looking like this…

To top everything else all off, Coco decided to get into a brawl with a cat outside. Travis grabbed her out of the window and she leaps out of his arms right back into the window and hurts her paw. You think that would teach her to stay out of the damn windows, but no. So now she has a slightly bloody paw and she curls her paw when she sits and lays down.

Time to spend money on a vet visit and new tires – while beer ferments in my bedroom. Ah, The joys of life. But on the flip side – My sister came and picked up the futon that’s been sitting in our bedroom for months, it looks so weird now without all of that metal sitting in there. :)

Here’s to a stiff drink after work! I hope you all have a great weekend!

P.S. Are you guys having any trouble reading my posts with the font that I’m using? I think I’m using Arial, 12px, at 22px height – Proof reading this post made me all googely eyed, so I figured I’d ask – Any font face, size or height suggestions? I’m all ears.

Liquid Skittles

The second drink I made for this past camping trip was Liquid Skittles. For some reason it didn’t make very much at all, especially when we took 1 virgin Liquid Skittles out of the mixture – I could of added water to the mixture of strawberry daiquiri, but I didn’t want it watered down. It was still really, really good. Very sweet and sour, just like skittles candy.

What You’ll Need: (Made 2 small drinks, and 1 small virgin drink)

  • 6 oz. Malibu Mango Rum
  • 12 oz. Strawberry Daiquiri Frozen Mix
  • 6 oz. Gatorade Lemon-Lime

Pour your Strawberry Daiquiri mix into a large bowl, and then add in your six ounces of Gatorade.

Add in your Malibu Mango Rum.

Give it a good stir and pour – Good stuff.

UPDATE: I’ve received a lot of questions on how to make a bigger batch of this stuff. Just simply find strawberry or cherry limeade by the gallon (usually in the juice aisle of your local grocery store). Mix that with Lemon-Lime gatorade & Malibu Mango Rum.

Scarlett O’Hara

Continuing on with my new tradition of making a new mixed drink for every camping trip… (check out last camping trip’s drink here.) For this camping trip, I actually made two drinks – the second one was kind of a flop (it didn’t make much at all), which I’ll talk about tomorrow, but this drink was sooo good. I actually got it off of the Southern Comfort website and her name is… Scarlett O’Hara.

What You’ll Need: (Makes 7 ½ cups)

  • 1¼ c. Southern Comfort
  • 5 c. Cranberry Juice Cocktail
  • 1 – 10 oz. Bottle Club Soda
  • Juice of 1 Lime
  • Lime Slices for Garnish (Optional)

During the making of these drinks – we realized that my cousin Courtney makes a pretty good bartender, I think she found her calling – Sorry Uncle Corey! (sidenote: don’t worry, she had a virgin scarlott o’hara)

Onward – Pour your 5 cups of cranberry juice cocktail into a bowl, and then mix in your 10 oz. of club soda. Then squeeze in the juice of one lime. (If you want a Virgin Scarlett O’Hara – stop at this point and serve – otherwise, keep going)

Add in your 1¼ cups of Southern Comfort – Yum.

& then just pour it into cups and add some limes slices for garnish – Enjoy!
