Christmas Recap
12/22/2012

Christmas break has flown by, faster than any year I can remember. I’ve also been sick for the past couple days, so I’m going to recap Christmas break real quick, so I can get back to naps and watching bad romantic comedy movies on tv. Last Friday, the 2st, was spent at the family business’ Christmas party which was held at my Aunt & Uncle’s house.

Christmas Eve was spent at my Grandma & Grandpa’s house where we chowed down and exchanged Christmas gifts. Here is an awesome panoramic view of the night thanks to Travis’ iPhone.

On Christmas morning we opened presents at home. Coco loved her new bunny.

Afterwards, we went to my parent’s to eat breakfast and exchange gifts. Here were the gifts we got my brother, which Travis picked out.

My mom even sent us home with freshly backed Christmas cookies, yum!

Travis got tons of awesome stuff for our future basement/man cave. Like this mini hot sauce bottle…

And this huge beer periodic table poster.

After my parents we went to Travis’ Mems for a few hours, followed by his Moms, where we played a bunch of games and just hung out.

Christmas Wreath 2012
12/21/2012

I finished my wreath just in time for the world to end! I used green and red glittered felt circles, along with a wooden welcome sign, which I painted red. Also, my camera needs serviced BAD & I’m in need of a new lens, so these pictures are a little over-processed. (At least that’s what they looked like on my laptop, but at work they look great… so it all depends on your monitor.)

Question: Has anyone ever had their camera’s serviced? Mine is three years old, and the pictures just keep getting grainier & grainier as time goes on, no matter what the settings are, or no matter how much natural light I have.

I might post a weekend wrap-up on Sunday night, or Monday morning but if not I will see you all on the 26th.
Have a wonderful holiday & enjoy the time spent with family!

Mission: Circle Felt Cutter – Accomplished!
12/20/2012

One of my favorite crafts to make are felt wreaths. I made two versions right now, triangles and circles. My favorite is the circles, but it would take me hours to cut out of all the circles I’d need. You don’t want to know how long it took me to cut out that many circles with scissors

I’ve been on the lookout for a tool to make the process easier. I bought a rotary cutter and board for the triangle type wreath, but with the circle wreaths… it seemed impossible. The only thing I could find was a very expensive ($1,000+) machine. There was also talk that circuit machines could do it, but they struggle and sometimes even break. So I really didn’t want to spend over $100 on something, that could break within the first few sheets of felt. I gave up the search for awhile. That is until I started my Christmas wreath. With the busy holiday season, I couldn’t find the time to cut out all of these circles, so my wreath was taking FOREVER to make. So, I did more research and I came across something called the Olfa Circle Cutter.

This little guy was said to cut thru everything from paper to leather AND FELT! Due to my restricted budget; however, I didn’t buy it. But I did send the link over to Travis and said BUY ME THIS! in a jokingly manner. Two days later though, it came in the mail and Travis said, “Put this on the blog so everyone knows how awesome of a boyfriend I am…” And he is awesome, because this thing works wonders! It takes a little practice to get it down and I’ll need a replacement blade pretty soon, but I can’t cut up to three sheets of felt at a time, in minutes!

I’m sure you’re all wondering then, when I’m going to reveal my Christmas wreath, since I’m a speed cutter now. Well… I ran into another problem. I’m about 10 green sheets short of completion and ALL OF THE CRAFT STORES ARE SOLD OUT OF APPLE GREEN FELT! I checked last Thursday, and then again on Tuesday. I’m going to go everywhere today though until I find the stuff so I can get this sucker finished before Christmas! In the meantime, here is a sneak peak…

Question: Would you buy one of my wreaths off of Etsy? I’ve been thinking about selling them, now that I have a faster process to make them. I’d probably sell the circle type wreaths for $45 and the triangle wreaths for $35.

Have a great Thursday everyone!
