Living Room – Complete 180

Remember how we were looking for a grey sectional? Well, over the weekend we stopped in at Value City Furniture and fell in love with a Sofa, Loveseat & Recliner set. Which in no way is grey, it’s brown… Chocolate Brown. I about had a design panic attack that night thinking about what I’d do with brown. As most of you know, I’m an outdoorsy, nature girl. So, you’d think I’d love the color brown. But in reality, I have no idea what to do with it – until I came across this.

Below you can see that I changed a few things up about it. I added burlap texture (I have a plan for a lamp shade) and a white ceramic color (more plans for lamps and accents). I have to admit though, that I really love the direction that we are starting to go. I always imagined a lot of greys and blues, but I’m loving that I’m coming out of my comfort zone and having some fun with our space. It definatly changes all of my ideas for when we have a house (except for a craftsman exterior. Mwahaha, Poor Travis.) & since we are starting to go with more nature inspired colors, that gives me some good excuses to buy some things featuring raccoons. ;)

By the way, i re-did the “to-do list” on here, let me know what you think. :)

Living Room Possibilities: Deep Purple

Now let me just warn you about something, I have never, ever, done a mood board before, so don’t make fun of how horrible it looks. (Okay, fine.. you can laugh once.) By the way, that chevron pillows has two colors on it because I wanted to show what it would look like if the purple actually matched the rug.

Travis and I are on the hunt for a sectional, and we both want a gray one. I’ve had my eye on the Karlstad collection at Ikea for quite awhile now, so I’m definitely going to check them out. (I’ve already checked out Value City Furniture and Ashley Furniture, with no luck.) With the Karlstad collection I’d like to get the sofa + chaise lounge combo in the Isunda Gray color.

We basically have a gray scheme going on in our apartment. Our bedroom is white, gray & blue and our bathroom is gray combined with some blues, whites & natural textures, so it’s only natural to continue on with our theme instead of having every single room being complete different and unbalanced. (I’m still at a loss with the kitchen…) So I thought we’d stay with the gray theme in the living room and toss in some deep purple and continue on with our dark walnut woods. (Hoping to score some walnut end tables & coffee table) I found this amazing 8 x 10 shag rug at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

I also found some amazing pillows that would work perfectly with our scheme and describe us quite well. The pillow with the cameras all over it is because we love taking pictures, we have tons. I fell in love with the burlap pillows that have the moose and bear on them. (Plus, Travis’ nickname is Moose some days during camping season) We both love nature, and Travis loves to hunt, so they are perfect. The chevron purple pillow was just one that I threw in for fun, even though ours would have to be a darker and deeper purple. The one I found was a little too pink for my taste.

Travis and I are planning on going to Ikea next Saturday, so I’m hoping we nail down what we are going for in the living room. I’m still waiting on his opinion of this mood board that I worked on for 3 hours! *Fingers Crossed*
