1st Home Goods Trip & 4th Anniversary

Yesterday was my 4th Anniversary with my boyfriend, so I took a vacation day off from work thinking that I’d get to spend it with my boyfriend, but he had to work. So I planned a trip to Home Goods with my sister (a new one opened up just 26 miles away in August). I’ve never been there before, but I’ve heard amazing stories about this place. Plus, I love TJMaxx. (we bought a few things there for our kitchen in the past.)

It rained pretty much ALL day, but we still managed to make it to the mall, Froots (Love their Red Bull smoothies), Home Goods & Dollar Tree in about three hours of time.

Now about Home Goods. That place is AMAZING! I only bought what I could carry since all of the carts were out in the rain. I would have bought soooo much more if they were dry.

I bought a new throw blanket in my favorite color, grey, for only $25. I’ve been looking for a new throw blanket since my current favorite one is brown, which doesn’t really match anything else I own.

It’s extremely soft. I was petting it, my sister was petting it. Even the cashier was petting it while ringing it up and of course the first thing my boyfriend did when he saw it was pet it.

I also bought a Christmas decoration since I have NONE! It was only $12.

By the way, do you know where I can get an artificial Christmas tree at a really awesome price? We currently do not have a Christmas tree and I’d really love to have one this year. (I’d rather not have a real tree, since the cat likes to eat it…)

Now onto the Anniversary.
I’m not going to go into prices, since I don’t want the boy to know, but I spent under $35.

His gifts included a case of his favorite beer, a card, two beer glasses (he’s wanted some for awhile), an olive oil dispenser (that I’ve been wanting to get him forever) & a bunch of his favorite candy.

I’ll be back later on with the Inspiration Stamps!

How was your first Home Goods experience?

Latest Additions: I found my new favorite store!

Today I fell in love with The Container Store. Why, you may ask? First let’s take a look at a picture from a few inspiration stamps ago and then I will explain. : )

Last night when Travis and I were re-stocking our sugar, flour, brown sugar.. etc. We noticed that our current glass containers (bought at Hobby Lobby for around $2.50 each) were not sealing well. (which I was kind of happy about since I’ve been secretly wanting to replace them with jars like the above inspiration picture.) So, this morning I started looking online for some jars similar to the ones above and I ended up at The Container Store; where I was going wanted to buy everything I saw. They had three different sizes of similar jars – 3 quarts, 1 gallon and 2 gallons. I asked Travis which size he wanted (he does most of the cooking) and he decided on 3 quarts. We then decided that we needed 5 of these babies. (Flour, Sugar, Powdered Sugar, Corn Starch and Brown Sugar.)

I used Ebates for my purchase, which means that I get 4% back. ($2.54 in Savings)
I also used a 15% off promo code: EDU133591V ($9 in Savings)
Which means I saved about $11.55.

My total was $63.45 as you can see below (with shipping) so I paid around $12.70 per glass jar, which is less than I’ve seen the jars go for at Walmart (they usually run from $12.99 to $14.99)

Once they arrive, I’ll make sure to post some pictures.

Have you ever bought anything at The Container Store?
Are you lucky enough to have an actual physical Container Store near you?

The closest for my is in New Jersey :(

Latest Additions: I couldn’t help myself.

This literally just took place an hour ago. It all started earlier this afternoon when I visiting some of my favorite blogs, like Young House Love, Little House. Big Heart and Bower Power. But, I was in trouble when I stopped in at 7th House on the Left.

Ashley had up their monthly His + Hers post. In her post she had the perfect calendar dry-erase board that I’ve been looking for and I knew I had to have it. Even though about a week in a half ago, after looking online for days for the perfect dry-erase calendar, I gave up and went to Walmart and bought this calendar for $5. (Travis if you are reading this, Blame Ashley :-X)

Well, after seeing the dry-erase weekly calendar that Ashley found at Target, I went and bought it right after work. It is a part of the Real Simple line at Target and it’s awesome. It has 1 week’s worth of calendar, a reminder space and a place for messages. Perfect! (I might dye the fabric grey though, we’ll see.)

After I got the calendar out of the packaging I opened up a brand new pack of Magnetic Tape that my lovely boyfriend bought me as a surprise. Love him.

I slapped some on the sides of the board (left & right, the whole top & bottom thing didn’t work)

So, here she is. (I tend to write crooked…Always have.)

Cost of the dry-erase board? $13.59. I’m pretty sure I’m going to dye that fabric grey. What can I say? I love grey. Plus, once I have a stainless steel refrigerator (one day), I think the grey will go nicely with it.
