Twelve Bucks at Shupp’s Grove

Two weekends ago we hit up Shupp’s Grove Antique Market in Adamstown, Pennsylvania. It’s a big outdoor antique market, also known as “The Picker’s Market”. I love going there and looking through all of the old stuff, and haggling a price with the sellers. This was only my second time there, but I will be going there at least two more times before the end of October.

I didn’t really get any picture while I was there, I was too busy looking at things and my fingers were frozen (it was pretty cold out), but here is a picture from their website.

While there I did pick up two things, and I only spent a total of $12. I picked up this old wooden cabinet for $10 (Originally for $12). It definitely needs some TLC and a coat of paint or stain. I’d like to use it in a bathroom one day (no place for it in our apartment bathroom) to hold toilet paper and other bathroom things.

I love the rustic feel of it, and the wire mesh front. I will be in need of a new knob though, once I paint it. I’m thinking of painting it in a grey, with an aged wash effect, so it still looks old and rustic, but we’ll see.

I also picked up my very first blue ball jar and after doing some research I learned that it was made between 1922 – 1923. I picked it up from a really sweet old lady for just $2, (Originally $2.50) which was pretty great since the other stands had them for over four bucks a pop.

Overall, it was a pretty successful trip. Travis bought a $40 bayonet, and my sister and her boyfriend came along where they got some scarves for their dogs, pictured here, and a really nice Coors light sign for only $20. Travis and I were hoping to find some signs as well, but no such luck. I was also hoping to find some orange vintage Pyrex, but the prices were too high for my wallet. Maybe next time?

Weekend Wrap-Up #9

Within a half hour of being home from work on Friday night,
Travis and I got bored and decided to head up to his Mom’s camp,
which is about an hour in a half away from us.

At first, the weather was great on the drive up, but then the clouds started to open up.

& then it started to hail and the winds really picked up.

A few minutes later, the storm was over with.
But just in that little bit of time there was debris everywhere,
and even a part of the road became flooded.

On the plus side, there was a huge rainbow.

And the rest of the drive was smooth sailing.

We had an awesome time up at camp and the weather was not bad either,
just a little chilly. Here are a few pictures I snapped over the weekend.

On the way home on Sunday, we decided to stop at the Old Sled Works in Duncannon, Pennsylvania. It’s a huge antique and craft market where Travis’ mom (pictured above) bought me some owls for Christmas. Travis and I have never been there, so we wanted to check it out. The place is way bigger than it looks, that’s for sure, and it has two floors full of unique items. (The rest of the photos were taken on my Samsung Galaxy S & Travis’ iPhone)

I loved this galvanized tube. I could image turning it into a work sink, and putting it in a laundry room. Travis found a 50′s style table that he loved too, and I’m amazed that he didn’t get a picture of it.

We managed to snap a good amount of photos of the place to show you guys,
even though both of our phones were almost dead.

Shupps Grove – Adamstown, PA

Over labor day weekend I went camping in Adamstown, PA and on Saturday the family and I stopped in at an amazing place called Shupps Grove. I was in heaven. It was a huge antique yard sale that went on forever. (I forgot to get a picture, shame on me, but below is a picture from their website)

Via Shupps Grove

They had every thing that I loved and was looking for, but I forgot to take along one of the most important things… cash.

They had those blue mason jars that you always see on Pinterest. They ranged from $5 – $8.

They even had other old vintage glass bottles. I loved that big blue one, which was $8. These bottles ranged from $3 to $8.

My boyfriend found this really cool coffee grinder, but it was $35.

And I fell in love with this little stool at $12. I would have re-painted the legs and reupholstered the seat on it though.

I’d have to say that this is my favorite antique place so far, with very reasonable prices and a nice atmosphere. I’m hoping to go back before they close for the season. I believe the last weekend they are open is October 1st. I just have to remember to bring cash next time.

Where is your favorite antique place?
