The Etsy Chapter: Wreaths + Graphic Design!

It has been a little over a week since I last posted. That is just crazy! But I’ve been crazy stressed and busy. So much so that I just didn’t feel like myself for a few days, was second guessing everything (the blog, the etsy shop) and was filled with anxiety that I just couldn’t shake. But thankfully I got back on the right track today and I’m ready to conquer the world! During the past week, I’ve been working on the Etsy shop. I have about 4 wreaths that are in various stages on completion but I have since run out of hot glue, and a couple colors of felt, so I need to make a trip to Michael’s soon. That was my plan yesterday after work, but after putting some much needed oil in my car before heading out… my hood decided that it didn’t want to latch. I tried everything to get it to latch: slamming the hood, lubing it up, almost pinching my fingers, jingling it, cursing at it and even a co-worker tried to fix it with a screwdriver and some pliers. Thankfully Travis’ was on his way to rescue me and attempt to fix it. It’s been below 20 degrees here in Pennsylvania the past few days, so after attempting to fix it for a couple minutes, we just hoped into the truck and left my car at work. But anyway, back to the purpose of this blog post… in this typical picture of Coco, you can see two of the wreaths that I’ve been working on.

My plan is to do as many wreaths as I can before the opening day, which I’m thinking is going to be March 6th. I have 11 total wreath forms, so that’s the max I’m going to be able to do, but I’m thinking that I’ll get around six accomplished and then I’ll save the others for custom orders or something. Since wreaths are extremely time consuming I’ve been brainstorming other things to sell in my shop, which brought me to my love of web & graphic design. I still think I’m a rookie, but I’ve come up with three designs of sidebar titles in various colors to sell for a super cheap $5.

I’m also welcoming custom header/button and sidebar title designs in the shop. I have some other things in the works as well, like social media icons. It’s exciting! But because I have all of this going on, the blog might be quiet until March, but I’ll still pop in every here and there if I have something to share. In the meantime follow me on instagram & twitter to see what I’m up to.

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend & Happy Friday!
I’m off to the car show after work with Travis to figure out what kind
of car I want to get, since mine has really not been happy lately.

I’m glad you’ve decided to add some web work to your etsy shop too! You’re great at it so it makes sense.

I’m rebranding/redesigning sometime soon, so the header and button you made me are getting retired (even though I love them!). I’m getting a friend at work to walk me through it so that I’ll hopefully learn something, but I’ll probably hit you up for some social media buttons!

Have a good weekend buddy :)

I completely know how you feel. Those same feelings ran through my head when I first opened my Etsy shop. Especially when I realized I made more from selling earrings in one month than I did in the entire first year of blogging.
Having a blog to promote you shop is a great bonus though. I haven’t really utilized this feature yet but was just thinking about doing some Saturday posts showcasing some of my jewelry. I think selling some of your graphic design talent will be great too. So many of us have know clue how to really personalize our blog (myself included).

Yayyy! I am so glad you are making good progress and feeling less anxious about everything. Your shop is going to be amazing and I am so happy you are including your web design talents! Don’t worry about the blog being quiet… we will all still be here once the prep work for the launch is done. And trust me, it gets easier once you’ve launched! ;)

P.S. Coco is too cute for words. She is a total camera ham!

You have been a busy lady! But stick with what you love and you’ll do great! I think the graphic design stuff is so cool because that’s one of the hardest things for a lot of people, and by a lot of people I mean me! :) Good luck girl!
