One Day I Will Have My Own Craft Space

I’ve been hard at work with all things related to the Etsy Shop. Boxes have been ordered, wreath forms have been shipped, felt has been cut, bunting has been made and most of my packing materials are ready to go. I’ve been doing most of the work from the laptop on the couch, to the tiny kitchen table. And I mean tiny! I attempted to cut circles while watching some Netflix a few nights ago, and one wrong move meant a tower of felt circles came crashing down.

This all got me daydreaming about my future craft space, so I thought today I’d share some of my favorite office eye candy and ideas with you all. One of the first things I’d want is a floor to ceiling, or quite large, white dry erase board. I couldn’t find anything like this in a google search. The closest I found was Bower Power’s dry erase board. I have a tendency to write tons of notes and lists down, and then transfer them onto the chalkboard at home. But I’m not really a fan or writing on the chalkboard, since it gives me chills just thinking about accidentally touching it with one of my nails (is that weird?). Plus, every time one of my lists and/or notes are on the board, Travis always manages to draw male genitalia all over it. So sweet of him, I know…

Another item on my wishlist would be tons of shelving so I could easily organize ribbon, paints, washi tape, felt… etc. The shelves in this inspiration photo look cheap though, maybe plastic. I’d DIY myself some raw wood photo ledge-ish shelf’s, and maybe stain them a walnut-ish color.

This next image, I don’t have a single negative thing to say about. It is gorgeous and well done (probably because a magazine did the makeover). Here’s to hoping my future office/craft space has a closet!

What are your wants & needs for a craft/office space? Or what are some things you definitely DON’T need? I will never need filing space or binders, since I keep most important documents & record keeping in the cloud. I’m always terrified of a fire destroying everything, so I try to keep as many documents and pictures stored on the interwebz as I can.

Yes, please, I will take one of each ;) haha
Since I actually HAVE my own craft space, I need to work on getting it organized and pretty.
I completely adore that closet – the curtains are really doing it for me! :)

For the time being, you should look into getting a gate-leg table, this way you can have more surface when you are working on stuff, then shrink the table back down when you aren’t. That’s what my sewing table is, and even though it’s up and open all the time, I like that I’m able to shrink it down if need-be.

PS – I really like the wine sign in your kitchen! :D

Travis and I made an agreement that we were not going to buy ANY furniture until we buy a house. Boo!

& thanks! I got that at a winery a year or so ago.

Man, I feel you on this one! I just want looooads of open storage so everything’s in easy reach. I’d like to be able to put all my fancy sewing scissors on hooks.

    Love your inspiration images!

I had my own craft space for a while (our “office” where I kept the sewing machine) and realized I never wanted to be in there…why? No TV. I would always take my projects into the living room and spread everything out on the floor haha. I’m pathetic :)

I would just love some storage space for my crafting supplies. Maybe your next place will have a crafting room for you.

That closet makes me drool! I always do my scrapbooking on the spare bed so I can watch tv in that bedroom. Gotta be carefuly to not cut up my comforter though, so an awesome room would be perfect. I get a spot in the basement in the house we’ll soon be building!

I would loooove my own craft space! I do everything on the couch/in the living area, which means it’s out for all to see….and then I store everything in a spare bedroom, so it’s just a mess all around. I love your inspiration images. Here’s to you getting it all in the future! :)

I can totally identify with wanting a craft room/office!! I keep all my craft supplies in our spare room or in the basement in a plastic tub. I get out what I need and spread out on the coffee table or the dining table. It’s awful because it’s out in the open and I hate cleaning it up mid way through a project to haul it out again. I would get things done much faster if I could just leave it laid out and come back to it. I love all three of those ideas/spaces! I hope to get a room in our next house for this sort of thing.

There are a couple of Plastic Laminate Companies (Formica/Wilsonart) that make Dry erase Laminate and You can use some matte black plastic laminate as a chalkboard (no screeching). You may be able to order a sheet of the laminate from HD or Lowe’s and just glue it to a piece of 1/4″ plywood (or thicker). Hope that helps! I believe the size it comes in is 4 x 8 (the laminate).

Oh, I hope for a craft space one day with a pretty desk and bright colors on the wall! Until that day, I’ll continue to craft on the floor or our coffee table :)

I have a sorta craft room. I cleaned out the spare bedroom (aka the room where I threw everything that didn’t belong somewhere) to make into a craft room. I would love all the organized shelving but right now I just have a temporary card table and supplies all over. Oh well, I guess it is a start! The good thing is I can leave the mess and just close the door! :)

What beautiful inspiration pics. I really want to reclaim a space for my crafts. The nursery was my craft room (not complaining, it was a good trade), but now I miss having my own space.

I hear you. Crafting in an apartment can be a nightmare. I am ALWAYS longing for a craft space.

Someday… I will dream of beautiful craft spaces for both of us! ;)

A wonderfully long table that is the right height for me. That’s my craft fantasy. Oh and there has to be PLENTY of room to walk all the way around it without worrying about tripping over something, knocking it down or somehow destroying something.
