Latest Additions: Minute Maid
09/19/2012

Over the weekend, Travis and I stopped by Ollies for some bargains. Ollies, which according to their website, is America’s largest retailers of closeouts, excess inventory and salvage merchandise. Our local Ollies is a few miles down the road, so we usually stop in when we have nothing else to really do on the weekends. The last time we were there, I bought a purple flower pot (which Coco has since made fall to its death, on earth day of all days), and the time before that I bought an identical green pot. This time around, we found two things. The first item we found was a rug, from Better Homes & Gardens. It was $16 and was chocolate brown in the store; however, when we brought it home, it turned black. We really need a rug in the mudroom though, so it’s staying.

But before I get to the pictures of the rug, let me talk about the second find. I found a Carafe for $3.99 and I instantly fell in love. Once I saw this, I got really excited and I had to beg Travis to buy it for me. I was literally jumping up and down and squealing, which resulted in Travis’ saying yes, so I’d simmer down, ha! So, I learned something that day. If I really want something, jump, squeal and basically embarrass Travis in public, and he will cave. ;) I’m going to use it as a vase, because I’m afraid washing it will make the writing come off. I have yet to put some flowers in it, but here she is…

Gorgeous right? Maybe I’m the only one that gets excited over carafe’s. I think I just get excited over glass, period. (Mason Jars = Weakness) One day though, when I make a mixed drink involving orange juice, this carafe will probably make an appearance for a photo opp. :)

Now, remember that rug I was talking about? Well… I tried to get pictures of it, but Coco had a different idea in mind. Instead she photo-bombed every single picture. She was even all over it during the apartment tour video, so I guess she approves.

And of course, after photo-boming every picture of the rug, she had to put her face right up to the camera… I should just name this blog, Coco’s Journey, because she’s taking over.

Sweet finds! I really like the carafe. You should definitely use it for when you make drinks. And Minute Maid makes lemonade and apple juice too I think so you have a ton of possibilities.

I haven’t seen an Ollie’s in for-ev-er. We had one in my home town but as far as I know there aren’t any around this area.

I’ll have to bust it out for more than OJ, I’ll just have to remember not to wash the front so much. :)

I barely ever see Ollie’s, but our local one & the distribution center are both a few miles from our apartment.

There was an Ollie’s a few blocks away from campus in college, but I haven’t been since I graduated a few years ago. Now I want to go back! I don’t remember the cute stuff haaha ;)

My Mom use to take me to Ollies when I was younger all the time and I hated the place! Lately though, if you really dig, you can find some great stuff.

If you use it for a vase you should tint the water orange or yellow. I thought about doing that for some arrangements I am fixing for a party at our house tonight.

The Carafe is really cute! I love them too! We have a ‘red lion dairy’ one that we use as our change jar.
