The cord was long enough.

That’s right, the cable cord was long enough to move the tv to the other side of the bedroom. The pictures don’t do the bedroom justice, but it feels so much better this way. We can now look out the one window to see if it’s storming, dark.. etc, because we usually have the curtains closed to the big windows, since the neighbors house is right there. And it’s actually cooler to sleep on the opposite side, since the a/c blows right towards us. Win-Win. But before I show you the room all rearranged, let me refresh your brain to what the bedroom use to be like…

The bedroom use to be the catch-all for all of the junk in the apartment, but we’ve really been going thru stuff and selling or getting rid of things. The only things left in the bedroom are tires (which are going on my car in October) and leftover parts from Travis’ electric drums. Oh, and a huge futon mattress, which my sister is suppose to be coming to pick up soon.

Anyways, the bedroom is now just about clutter free. Except for Coco’s toys, she is spoiled!

I’m pretty sure that when Travis & I do make that jump into home-ownership, that we will re-arranged things a million times. You always think you know exactly where everything should go, but as you live with that decision for awhile, it becomes clear how things should really be re-arranged. Or maybe I just like playing “musical furniture”. I always did re-arrange my bedroom furniture about 234,343 times while growing up. That’s probably why by the time I was a teenager, most of my furniture was broken from pushing it around so much, oops.

I also know that when we do become home owners, that we will need the following: tv mount, new dresser, new bed frame & headboard & new nightstands. All of our stuff is borrowed (bed frame & headboard) or falling apart (dresser). I see a lot of dollar signs… crap.

cool. Glad you got it to work. I always come up with a bunch of ideas for moving furniture around for better function and flow, and the first way I arrange it usually ends up winning in the end.

I’ve been saying I’m going to rearrange my living room for ages – motivation only seems to strike when I’m at work sadly!

The room seems bigger with the new layout! :)

Looks great! I’m a furniture rearranger too! But our bed only fits in our bedroom one way at the moment so I haven’t moved that beast in a while!

Holy wood paneling, batman! Seriously though.. you definitely don’t buy everything at once, promise! It took us two years after moving in to finally replace our downstairs furniture – mostly which had come from CL.

I know! I hate it. At least it’s real wood paneling, and not the fake stuff… okay, they both are terrible. haha.

We will probably CL everything, except for the mattress & tv mount.

Looks great! I love how rearranging makes everything feel fresh and new.

Growing up, my stepmom used to rearrange our living room like every 6-8 weeks, so I’d come home from school and open the front door and be shocked. It was a small room with large pieces of furniture, so I have no idea how that woman was able to come up with so many different layouts. I used to love doing the same thing, but lately it’s seemed that furniture only makes sense in 1 place so I put it there and it stays.

My mom use to do the same thing. I still to this day have no idea how she moved half of the pieces of furniture.

It all comes with time, I promise! Keep an eye out for model homes selling furniture on CL…we got our bedroom set that way. It had never been used, just sat in a staged home so it was brand new and we got it for roughly half price!

Isn’t it funny how rearranging furniture can make it feel like a brand new space? I’m glad it worked out for you. And don’t worry about getting all new stuff when you move. Move in, dream a little of how you want the place to look, and then start saving for some nice furniture upgrades. Then you will be pleased with your nice long term furniture purchases.
I plan to sell our sofas whenever we move in a few years. I already get nervous thinking about looking for new ones. I don’t want to do anything though until I know the layout of the new place and what style will look right.

Yeah, it’s best to wait to make purchases until you know how your place is laid out. I’m in no rush, but I still see the dollar signs piling up. Until the time comes I’ll definitely dream little :)

BTW, I can never comment on your blog. I can usually type in the comment box itself, but when it comes to name/email/url I can’t type anything in there.

Thanks for letting me know. I’ll try to figure out what it is and let you know when I think I have it working. My sis said my blog looked funny on her work computer. Is it showing up normal on your computer? If not what browser are you using? I hate it when the blog gets all technical like this. :)

It looked fine to me, it was just the comment box that was all weird. – Firefox.

I used to rearrange my furniture ALL THE TIME too! I loved to switch things up and start new again.

And have no fear about having to buy all new bedroom stuff…I had to too, and with the help of CL, it was a lot more affordable then I thought it’d be! Good luck!

Looks great- your bedroom is huge!! We still need to upgrade our bedroom set. We bought new night stands and I just finished our DIY headboard but our dressers were terrible when we moved and still are. I like the one I found at a thrift store but it needs some TLC and I think that will end up in a future nursery and we’ll have to splurge on a matching low and tall set for our bedroom. It’s always a waiting game with house stuff…

It is huge. It’s very long which makes it kind of hard to place furniture. The TV feels so far away. I’d like to DIY a headboard one day too. We need to upgrade from a full mattress to a queen or king first though. I just bought new nightstands last year, but they are not working out very well. I’ve had my eye out for a hutch on CL and thrift stores, so we have one for our house, but I haven’t seen anything worth wild yet.

Your bedroom is really spacious; that’s nice. We don’t have a TV in the bedroom…Kevin is begging for one, but I have yet to agree. I like to sleep too much, lol.
