Weekend Wrap-Up #23
08/27/2012
We had a pretty busy weekend. Our original plans were to go to Hershey Park on Saturday, and then relax on Sunday, but since my brother couldn’t do Hershey Park this weekend, we made other plans. Friday night consisted of Travis’ being on the phone with State Farm Insurance, which kind of went like this:
I feel bad for the State Farm Rep that Travis is reaming out but they dropped the ball so many times on his claim. #SoonCallingOurLawyer

Which led to opening the last bottle of wine we had.

Which then led to this…
So glad that a bottle of wine between Travis & I makes us laugh at the State Farm situation. Or make fun of State Farm. #TrueLove

By the way, this stuff is our new favorite wine, Blueberry from West Hanover Winery. Sooo good.

On Saturday morning, we got up bright and early, like 7am. I ended up cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom, while Travis’ looked at trucks online. Then we headed out to the outdoor store so Travis’ could get a scope holder (or something, I don’t really know) for his new rifle. From there we had lunch in the food court of the mall. We shared a chicken teriyaki sub = delicious. We then saw an early movie, The Campaign (I thought it was funny, Travis’ thought he was going to fall asleep). After the movie, we went and picked up groceries, made a cake from scratch and watched a bunch of movies before heading to bed. (A Little Bit of Heaven = One of the saddest movies ever)

On Sunday, we decided to go and look at trucks. Little did we know that this would turn into a full-day thing. We started out in our area, and then we headed out to Lancaster County to look at some dealerships. While in the area, we stopped at the Volkswagen dealer just to see what they had, where I fell in love with a blue GTI and a black GTI. The blue GTI was a crazy $38,000 and the black one said “ask a representative”…

We didn’t find any trucks with the right price, or the right mileage, so we expanded the search. We ended up heading about two hours north to look at some more trucks. On the way we picked up Travis’ Dad & his girlfriend. We stopped at so many dealerships, but we didn’t really find anything, once again. Eventually we headed back to Travis’ Dad’s, and then we left right away to switch cars with Travis’ Mom (Travis is borrowing two of his Mom’s cars until he finds a new truck). By this time it was 9PM so we were beat. We did the car switch, and got about 5 miles down the road, when Travis realized that he left his phone in his Mom’s other car, so we had to turn around and go back for it. By the time this was all said and done, and we were home, it was 10:15. We hit the bed right away.
Needless to say, we are both tired this morning and wishing it was not Monday. Time to get back to the daily grind. How was your weekend? If you relaxed, I’m jealous.

I relaxed. But I’m back at work today after a holiday week and I couldn’t be more miserable. So I feel your pain! Too bad you guys didn’t have any luck with the truck hunt. Car shopping is fun though, so at least you get to do it a few more times!

I hadn’t heard of it until she started working there, either. Now she brings it to every family get-together and I’m hooked! also, their website has cool recipes…i know you like to try new drinks.

Have you guys looked into Reedman Toll Auto in Langhorne? I’m not sure how much of a hike it is for you two, but it’s definitely worth visiting. It’s this HUGE car dealership with a ton of brands -both new and used cars – so there’s plenty of options. I’d check out their website but you should head out there because their inventory changes often. My family has gotten cars from them before and it’s always been an easy process.
Good luck car hunting and hopefully the insurance stuff gets fixed soon!

What kind of truck is he looking for? Matts new job is at a chevy dealership…so he could probably take a look if there is anything up here that Travis is looking for?

Sounds like a busy weekend for sure! Saturday we sanded the remaining railing on our deck, went out for lunch and then it was Shayne’s sisters shower/bachelorette party and Shayne went to a co-workers pig roast. Sunday I spent the day at my parents building a headboard with my step dad and step brother. It was entertaining….
Good luck with the truck search! I’m sure you’ll find something!

I did absolutely nothing all day Saturday and it was glorious! I did a bunch of cleaning yesterday, but it was still a pretty relaxing weekend.

We went to visit my sister and her family this past weekend. Her stepson had his seven year old birthday party at the skating rink. Michael Luke and I attempted to relive our youth by getting out there and skating with him. It was fun!

I hope Trav isn’t getting another VW! I have friends that are very VW but all ended up scrapping theirs for one issue or another, one of which was an electrical/fire issue. The seat-heat in her jetta caught fire while she was driving. No lie. The others had continuous problems with the timing belts and random stalls, which can happen in any car, but this electrical fire stuff is scary and I feel like it’s a known issue by now with their brand.

We love our Volkswagens. We are planning on getting another one next year, but for now we are getting a truck.
