Weekend Wrap-Up #20
I am really tired from this past weekend. I probably could have spent all day sleeping if I didn’t have to work, but bills need paid and such is life. We spent the weekend at Ferryboat Campsites in Liverpool, PA. Which is runs right along side of the Susquehanna River. I took Friday off of work, so I had the car all loaded up and ready to go when Travis got home from work, we even took Coco along with this time. We didn’t get to do much on Friday since it started to pour, but on Saturday we were all ready to go.
Except my brother and Travis didn’t seem like they were up for much since their faces were in their phones the entire time. I hate being on my phone while camping, I usually leave it in the car or the camper, which is why you didn’t see any tweets or instagram’s from me, except for that 1AM fire picture. ;)

At this campground there is a Ferry that runs from the campground to across the river to Millersburg. The water was really low this year, so they didn’t run the ferry on Friday, but it rained enough Friday night for the ferry to run on Saturday and Sunday.

Okay, now I HATE spiders and snakes, they both creep me out and I can’t touch them. So, on Saturday when we went down to the rocks along side of the river, there was a water snake in the water, and I was freaking out, yelling, screaming, and threatening to smash his little head with a rock, but it was actually really cool when the snake caught a fish and I managed to get a picture of it. So, if you hate snakes and can’t look at a picture, just scroll down really fast and avoid the next picture!

Here is a view of the river from down at the rocks/rapids. We were waiting for some of my family to come floating down the river on their tubes, so I could get some pictures of them going thru the rapids, but after waiting a good half hour, we gave up. They came floating down the river about an hour later.

Here is some of the little rapids that the river has. This is looking towards the Millersburg side.

From this picture you can see how the campground runs along side of the river. And the extra ferry is docked on the side. I’m pretty sure that Travis was trying to catch a snake in this picture. Boys…

I didn’t go with on the float on Saturday because I went wine tasting at 2PM, and they all left for the float at 1:30, but I managed to get their picture from the side when they came floating by, even though I really wanted to get their pictures as they went down the rapids, but there was some fisherman in my spot. Everyone was in tubes except for my Grandpa, he was in a red kayak.

Steak, Corn on the Cob & Baked Potatoes = Delicious

On Saturday night there was quite a few drunks out and about, like these two goon heads. They kept riding down the hill in their golf karts and then getting stuck in the mud, over and over again.

How was your weekend? Do you need another day to recover from your weekend?

Yeah waking up today was hard! We had a barbecue Friday night, then a whole day at the beach on Saturday (my bf had a handball tournament) and yesterday was the annual paella contest (another all-day event). Your weekend sounds like so much fun!

What exactly is handball? Never heard of it before.

Looks like you had a great weekend! That photo of the snake makes me giggle (the fish looks like it’s kind of thinking “oh snap!”) but when I see a snake in person, I always freak out – even if it’s just a little garden snake!

haha, the fish does look like that!

It’s a team sport, sort of like soccer in a sense – they have two goalies, etc –but they play with their hand :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_handball
Beach handball is a lot more entertaining though! Especially because you get to lounge around the beach while they play, but also because the game only lasts about 20-30 minutes, and they get double points for spectacular shots/goals (what exactly constitutes a spectacular shot is up to the referees).

Ohhh, I think I played that in gym class during high school. Beach handball sounds fun!

Surprisingly, I was up and at ‘em early this morning! Could be the fact that I slept until 3 pm on Sunday…I may have enjoyed myself a little too much on Saturday night.

You sound like Travis, haha. He slept all day yesterday since he was up until 4am the night before.

We snuck away to my parents farm where there is absolutely no cell phone service. I seriously love it! And that snake picture is creepy… really awesome that you were able to get that cool of a picture, but creepy enough that I would not have touched that water anymore lol!

Most campgrounds we go to have no cell phone service, which I love as well. It’s nice to get away, but it’s a bit overwhelming to catch up on blogs/instagrams/tweets when you get back to civilization!

I still haven’t been camping this year. I’m so incredibly jealous of you!
My weekend was pretty dull (pretty much slept all weekend) but you can read all about it over at Life Begins @23.

Looks like a fantastic weekend!! It really makes me want to jump on organizing our camping weekend in August!! That snake picture is definitely creepy…. I probably wouldn’t have been able to swim after that lol.
I hear ya on it being overwhelming to catch up on all the blogs/facebook/instagram etc after a few days off! I’ve been away for 2 weeks so there is soooo much to read!!

I was more afraid of the crayfish pinching my feet in the water, then I was about a snake, to be honest. lol. Camping season is half-way over for me, it makes me sad.
I can’t wait until you’re back on the blogging scene and discuss your wedding! I’m so anxious & excited about it. :) I was going to email you the day after your wedding, but I figured I’d let you relax and recuperate. :)

Oh yeah- not a fan of crayfish either. Their pinchers scare me lol
Yes- Im looking forward to getting back into it as well- just have a lack of time at this very moment (work is a little busy after 2 weeks off) and I want to post about the wedding once I have the pro photos back. I hope to at least post something this week though!
Thanks for thinking of me! : )

Your weekend looks like a blast! Minus the snake part. They creep me out, but your picture is pretty awesome.

This looks like so much fun!! It’s awesome how much you camp. I only go like three times a year :( That snake is so cool – great pic! How did Coco like it?

Coco loves camping. She has a secret spot in the camper where she sleeps.

Looks like you had a great weekend! Mine was pretty uneventful…I am trying to avoid the heat at all costs ;)

I bet! Pregnancy and the heat were not made for each other.

There’s no way I’d get near that water after seeing that snake! I don’t mind them, and think they’re actually pretty cool, but no way would I want to be swimming with them! Glad y’all had fun, though!
