Just some updates

Sort of a storage room update… even though it looks exactly the same to me. But after spending 10+ hours in this cave of clutter, I like to tell myself that I’ve made some progress, even though it’s very hard to tell. I did manage to pull out two air conditioners though, since we sold them to Travis’ co-worker (even though they are still sitting in the mudroom… get a move on that Travis!), which has freed up a lot of space.

This is probably the worst picture I have of what the storage room was looking like. We would just kind of open the door, throw things in there, and then shut the door again before we would even let our minds realize what chaos it was in there. But then we’d go in there for a tool, and end up getting lost in the mess, and stubbing a toe, which always resulted in a few swear words. The mystery of it all is, that when Travis would go in there for something “my” stuff would always be in his way, and he’d mumble and curse under his breathe that I need to clean up my stuff. But yet, when I was in there, his things were always in the way… weird. But anyways, let’s look at the progress I’ve sort-of-kind-of made in the past week or so.

So as you can see above, the picture to the left is the “before” picture, and the one to the right, well… let’s call that the “in progress, sort-of” picture. But as you can see, we can finally open the door all the way! Woohoo! And we added a smaller shelf next to our “pantry” shelf, so we were able to extend the pantry. So it’s lookin’ like this now:

Yay, for more room for junk food and stuff. We do finally have more room for pots and pans that don’t fit into our small kitchen cupboards. Like the Wok, roasting pan and deep fryer. Most of the things on the top shelf are Travis’ things. Like the coffee pot (he only uses it on Saturday mornings), all of his beer making supplies (5 gallon buckets and pots). The only thing up there that is mine, is the box to the far left, which is a collection of empty wine bottles. :)

And that’s what my steps looked like right after moving that little black shelf. Yup, I reorganized all of our food. And it you look closely, you can see that Coco wanted down the steps, so being the nice kitty mother that I am, I cleared a path for her, and as soon as I was done, she decided she was no longer interested in the stairs… cats.

Okay now, let’s go back to the chaos…

This is the same corner, believe it or not. I just pulled the shelf out of there, but it basically looks the same because TRAVIS HAS YET TO GO THRU ALL OF HIS COMPUTER STUFF! Yes, all of those boxes to the left are Travis’ computer things, filled with old mother boards (hence the box named, “Old Mobos”), and a million and two cables. The picture on the left though, do you see that box filled with MDF boards and a Miller Lite box? That was all trash, which I hauled out of the apartment and threw out.

Yup, looks about the same doesn’t it. This storage room will be the death of me.

That is the little “cubby hole” in our storage room. It’s the space behind the door. It’s gone through quite a few stages. In the beginning it held the air conditioners, a bunch of things the landlord left in the apartment and our firewood. Winter is over now, and after the ant situation, Travis is no longer allowed to bring firewood into the apartment unless it’s going right into the fireplace. I but all of our Holiday decorations back in this corner, since it’s things we rarely get out, unlike our tools and craft supplies. I also stacked all of Travis’ empty bottles that he saves for when he bottles his own beer. Travis decided then that he was going to buy bottles this year for a tighter seal, so I got to recycle all of those bottles, yay! Now our vacuum and shampooer sit behind the door.

Well, I know what I’m doing after work, more storage room cleaning and organizing. Bleh!

In other news, after 10+ months of attempting to grow out my natural hair color, I gave in and dyed it as close as I could get to my natural color.

Please ignore my retarded face in the picture to the left (it was a screenshot from that PA Dutch video) But I took the picture in the same spot, under the same lighting so you could see the difference, because no one else has seemed to notice the difference. But as you can see, it was very “bronzy” in the first picture and brown in the second. Yay, brunettes! :)

And in some more exciting news, that Coco just can’t wait to share with you. (I seriously think my plants are only growing because Coco talks to them, otherwise they’d be dead)

Our new Aster‘s are sprouting!

Also, as you may have noticed we’ve gone Blue instead of Green. Actually we’ve gone Grey and Blue. Why not use my favorite colors? :)

It’s almost the weekend! Any exciting plans?

Latest Additions: Three Buck Find

I always though Michael’s craft store was expensive for some reason, or maybe I just sub-consiously stayed away from the place, since I turned down a job offer from there when I was a teenager because I didn’t want to give up my weekends. Back then I spent my weekends driving the hour drive to Travis’ house to spend time with him when we were still doing the long-distance thing. A few weeks ago though, when I ended up running out of felt during my St. Patrick’s day wreath, I stopped in at Michael’s as a last resort, and they ended up having a bunch of the felt I needed and it was even four cents cheaper per felt sheet, then it was at JoAnn’s and AC Moore.

I also, didn’t even know that Michael’s had a “home decor” section and even a clearance home decor aisle, and we all know that I spend FOREVERRR looking through these aisles for some awesome finds, like my green beans and peppers kitchen signage. While digging through the deals at my local Michael’s craft store, I found something that I had to have and at only three bucks, it was a steal.

As long as it makes me smile, then it was meant to be. :)

P.S. I’m still tweaking the layout. Like adding a picture on the sidebar, making some social media buttons and possibly a “corner” background. We’ll see. I’m in no rush since I’m still slaving away at cleaning out our storage room. I’ve managed to go through all of my stuff, but I’m still waiting on Travis’ to go through his computer stuff before I can move forward. Hopefully by next Monday, it’ll be organized.

Weekend Wrap-Up #3

What is Weekend Wrap-Up? It’s a way for me to capture/document my weekends (Friday’s from 4PM EST until I go to sleep Sunday Night) by taking random pictures from my cell phone or Nikon D5000 and posting them here every Monday morning.

Why? It gives you guys a peek into my life, and even sneak peeks into projects I’m currently working on. It’s also so I can look back and see what I did on certain weekends and I just think it would be fun to have.

Weekend Wrap-Up #3
March 23rd – March 25th

We didn’t really do a whole lot over the weekend. Friday night we just relaxed, and Travis made some awesome butter fried chicken (Hello, Paula Deen!) On Saturday, it rained all day so Travis spent 6+ hours putting a new exhaust on his car while I worked on the Mailbox Journey’s layout which is still way under construction. I’m still not sure what colors I want to use, and I’m still working on the header and eventually adding something to the background. But, I’ve been trying to make it as simple as possible. On Sunday, we drove the 45 minutes to go visit Travis’ Dad. We took a walk around the yard (his dad has 5 acres) and headed home around 9. We didn’t leave emptied handed though, we came home with some pickled ring bologna, and some homemade peanut butter eggs!
