Everything But The Living Room

It’s been a little over two months now since we moved into our new apartment, and I haven’t updated you guys on any of the rooms except for the living room, so here is a long over due update on the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. All of which are still in progress, and probably will be until the day we buy a home, but until then I’m having fun with it and making it feel more like home.

So, let’s go back in time to the day we got the keys for the apartment. This is what the kitchen looked like before we moved any of our things in.

And here is what it is looking like today. I still want to add some spice shelves from IKEA above the stove and find a new utensil holder.

We did buy new canisters since our other ones did not seal. (I sold 4 of them on Craigslist for $30 and the 5th one holds the gerbils food.)

Over on this wall is where our frame wall is going, eventually.

Now, let’s look back at what the bathroom use to look like before we moved in.

It’s looking much better now. We bought grey mats and a shower curtain to tone down the crazy tiles. We also took the door off the closet, so Coco’s litter box could be out of the way and we added some baskets from Target to make it look organized.

Further into the bathroom, here it is from November…

And now in January it’s looking like this.

One of our favorite additions in here is our soap pump that we bought at Target. (love that place!)

And now the bedroom, which has seen the least amount of progress because I’m not willing to work with those walls! :p

Here it is back in November…

And now in January. We don’t really spend any time in here, except to sleep, so I’m not really worried about it as much as the rest of the rooms. We will be doing some upgrading in here though. We will be buying a queen mattress sometime soon, and getting rid of the full size one. I’m also hoping to DIY a headboard (a wooden palet one) which is going to look CRAZZYY for now because it’s going to be wood on wood, but I just have to remember, this apartment is only temporary. We will also have to get a queen size comforter then and sheets.

The other side of the bedroom is looking crazy right now as our sell/donate pile keeps growing and growing. That dresser will get redone in walnut stain someday too.

We did get a new hamper for Christmas though from my Madre. :)

The mudroom is still pretty plain too. I’m hoping to add a new wall coat rack and a bench with shoe storage. It all depends on when we get to that point and how long we will be in this apartment.

And finally, the steps from back in November.

And what they are looking like today. These are about to get a huge change though once the frame wall is all hung up. Can’t wait. :)

What changes have you made to your home/apartment lately?

    Everything is looking really good!

The tiles in the bathroom are super crazy, but you’re working it!

Also, I like the bedroom. You’ve done real well with the wood paneling and what appears to be reddish pink carpet!

Can’t wait to see how the space evolves!

Thanks Brandi! It makes me itch for a house though so I can demolish tile, and rip up carpet. :)

Woah! That tile is super crazy! I really admire your ability to think about the future and not make things that go with this house, but won’t work in the future. It’s a hard thing to do!

It definitely is hard most of the time, I think it’s 10x harder for Travis though.

Everytime I walk past that soap pump in Target I have to talk myself out of buying it. . . It’s sooo cute! Great job working with the space!
